I offer individual and group supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists and complementary health practitioners. Therapeutic private practise can be challenging and potentially isolating. Good supervision is essential. The supervisor can provide an invaluable resource for the therapists work; enabling the practitioner to feel supported, backed up and more confident in their work. When things get stuck or difficult in a therapists work, talking to ones supervisor can provide space for reflection, insight and a way forward. One of the most valuable aspects of this professional relationship is as a place to learn and incorporate new ideas. Some of these learning’s are about ones self, about good practise and about other modalities

In my work as a supervisor I work in depth with the relationship that develops between the therapist and client. Encouraging the supervisee to both be fully available to be related to by the client but also to be able to stand back and witness the unfolding dynamics. I also work with the live relationship in the room between myself and the therapist; to explore what may be replaying from the client material and to create an honest relating. As a body Psychotherapist I’m interested in supporting therapists to explore bodily experience, both their own and their clients. Working with internal sensation, breath, movement, posture, illness etc can bring a wealth of therapeutic material and wholeness to the work.

I see one of the main aims of supervision to support supervisees to develop their own internal supervisor. So that each hour they work with their clients they can draw on their own internal witness/supervisor; to be able to step back and feel resourced in the moment. The supervisory relationship at its best is safe and challenging; where the supervisee can risk talking about their mistakes fears and doubts. At times it can also be inspiring and nourishing. I am interested in creating honest and transparent supervisory relationships so that risks can be taken and deep learning can occur. To be the best therapist we can be we need to be supported to be authentically ourselves. To read more about my supervision...
